Facebook Questions: A Letter to my Sister

Have you guys seen the new feature on Facebook called Questions yet? First, let me explain what Facebook Questions is. Essentially, Facebook Questions allows you to get answers from people in your network about questions that you have. It is a good way to learn about where people stand on certain issues, to find out what brands people favor and to provide information that may be helpful to others.

You can ask a question simply by going to your Facebook profile. Where you would normally write a status update, there is now an additional option to click on “Question” and ask a question. You can make the question multiple choice and your network has to answer based on your options or you can Continue Reading →

My Web Hosting Heart Attack

I guess it was bound to happen. Things had been running smoothly for way too long. I have heard so many times of people having problems with their web hosting but I thought, “Not I. That won’t happen to me.” Don’t get me wrong. I am not invincible to technical difficulties but I just never considered the real possibility that I would have hosting issues that would make me gasp for air.

Last night, I called my hosting company because I needed them to restore a particular blog/URL to a certain date/time. They said that they were happy to do so. A very kind gentleman walked me through the process of filling out an online form. Continue Reading →

When the Going Gets Tough, the Tough Get Social

Not all weeks can be home runs. Not all DAYS can be home runs. Sometimes we just feel off and need to recharge. Sometimes we just want to go into a self-imposed timeout and be alone. That is easier said than done, isn’t it? Being alone when you work in social media is not always easy to achieve, ESPECIALLY if you are someone as transparent as I am. More often than not, what I am thinking somehow comes out on one social network or another.

Sharing the happiness and good times are easy. It is the sadness and disappointment that are another story for some. There is Continue Reading →

The 15 Minute Retweet

Not too long ago, I needed my mother to retweet (RT) something for me on Twitter. For Twitter newbies, retweeting means that a user will take what someone else has tweeted and tweet it again for their own followers to see. In many cases, it gives more credibility to the original tweet and it is also a great way to get more eyeballs on the information that was sent out in the tweet.

In this particular case, I had written an article on my blog and I asked my Mom to retweet it for me. I have gone into my Mom’s account many times and managed her Twitter work but I REALLY wanted her to learn how to execute a retweet on her own. We sat down together so that I could teach her Continue Reading →

Do’s and Don’ts of Affiliate Marketing

As many of you know, I have a few fan pages on Facebook. A few days ago, I put up a post on my Lauren Huston – Social Media Lifestylist page. I really like hearing different perspectives and I wanted to know what the fans of my page wanted to see on my blog.

“I’m putting my next blog post in YOUR hands! I want to write about something that one of YOU suggests. Put your thinking cap on & submit your suggestion right here in the suggestion box! Hurry up, though! I want to start writing soon!”

I was very happy to get responses from people and somewhat surprised to see that most of them had an interest in a particular topic, affiliate Continue Reading →
